Utterly Devastating

2022 has been a year of firsts for Christ Church North Dublin. It has been wonderful to welcome in new people over the course of the year. We started a kid’s ministry on Sundays and have most recently been able to gather together our very own music team. We also were able to continue meeting through the summer months for the first time too which is a significant step in the life of any church plant. Don’t misunderstand this, as a new church we are still small and everything feels fragile, but by God’s great generosity we are moving forwards.

The close of 2022 however has been very difficult. A founding family in CCND lost their teenage son to a sudden illness. Quite honestly this has been utterly devastating to us as a church community. We are all still processing it and seeking to care for one another and the grieving family. Our faith in Jesus and the resurrection feels at times more shallow than ever before and on other occasions more necessary and urgent than we’ve previously experienced. It certainly has exposed our need to walk with one another and we pray this will be for the long haul, as we seek to carry each others burdens.

As we look to 2023, we certainly are entering it tentatively, knowing that God is in charge and our plans can change as he seeks to transform us more into the image of his obedient son. We need to push forward with a lot of logistics in terms of governance and leadership. Please pray as we seek to develop these structures and encourage various levels of leadership in the church we will not lose sight of our very reason for existence; to reach those in new developments across D13 with the glorious news of the gospel of Jesus to the glory of God’s wonderful grace in this age and the age to come.
