New Life Story

Dear supporter of Irish Church Missions,

I’m writing to share my personal journey with you, and how your generosity towards ICM has impacted my life.

My name is Ihor, and I’m an 18-year-old who grew up in Kiev, Ukraine.

One month after the war started, my sister Valeria and I had to leave our homeland. Our parents are still there, facing many challenges of these hard times.

Back in Ukraine, I considered myself an atheist. I was sceptical about the existence of God and preferred to be in control of my own life. I spent most of my free time playing computer games.

Leaving Ukraine, we ended up in Ireland, where my sister, who was a Christian already, introduced me to church life. Despite feeling disoriented, I sensed this was the beginning of something new.

The warmth and welcome from the community of Christ Church North Dublin, an ICM church, made a profound impact on me.

Coming from a traditional Orthodox background, the non-traditional setting of Christ Church North Dublin initially felt strange. However, I respected the church’s commitment to understanding God through the Bible.

Reading the Bible one-on-one with David and discovering the compelling nature of Jesus gradually changed my perspective about God and Christianity.

Then on my first day at university I experienced an overwhelming feeling of being lost. This led me to say a prayer for forgiveness and surrender my life to Jesus.

This marked the day I became truly new.

Being made new didn’t mean life got easier. I face the reality of sin and the constant battle against temptation. However, the love of Jesus and the support of my church family sustains me.

I’m reaching out to you because I want you to know that by supporting ICM in planting churches like Christ Church North Dublin you too have played a crucial role in my spiritual transformation.

I want to thank you for being an ICM supporter and ask you to continue to be a beacon of hope for others like me by giving to and praying for this ministry.

With sincere gratitude, Ihor Korovanenko
