Please Pray.

Plans to reach workers in the city.

Between September and December we are trying to find new ways to reach the ever growing business community in Dublin.  Praise God that he determines the times and exact places where we all should live (Acts 17:26) and ask that many from the global community will hear and respond to the good news of Jesus Christ.  Pray specifically for the possibility of 6 lunch time meetings - in the build-up to Christmas in a central business area of Dublin.

New evangelistic Bible studies on the north side.

In order to prepare for a new church plant on the north side of the city, please pray for David and Honor Martin and family as they seek to establish a new evangelistic Bible study in their home with their neighbours and friends.  Praise God there has been interest shown already by some of them and ask that God would draw others to discover a new and living hope through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead (1 Peter 1:3).

Two pioneer evangelists/church planters for 2019.

To date, one pioneer family is committed to joining us.  The second family are still finishing their theological training.  Praise God that these families are indeed willing to start this new adventure and pray that God will meet their every need.  If you are interested in adopting one of these families as a prayer partner, please contact us at details below at which point we can provide more specifics.  ‘Pray without ceasing’ (1 These. 5:17)

Prayer updates September - November

1-8 September
ICM Apprentices
--
Pray for ICM apprentices Sam, Jacob and Abby, as they begin their second year.  Give thanks for times of learning over the last year, both of head knowledge and of experience in various Bible teaching roles and pray that the coming academic year will continue to equip them for future service.  Pray for Georgina as she moves on to train and work with teaching English to international students.  Pray for God's guidance in the future and for ongoing opportunities to use her gifts and training to build up others in God's word.

9-17 September
--
Praise God for his glorious gospel that is bearing fruit all around the world and pray specifically for our brothers and sisters who are giving a good testimony in trying circumstances.  At the recent Gafcon Conference in Jerusalem leaders and laity from around the global gathered to encourage one another to ‘proclaim Christ faithfully to the nations’.  Pray that we in Ireland and especially those involved in Gafcon Ireland would seek to do this here.

Remember the trustees as they meet for their AGM on 20th September and pray for courage, wisdom, boldness and discernment as they plan for future ministries of ICM

18-24 September
ICM AGM / Culture Night
--

Pray for the ICM AGM on Thursday 20th September in Belfast.  Pray for encouraging reminders of God's faithfulness over the last year, and a dependent, godly wisdom as the Trustees, staff and supporters look to the year ahead.

Give thanks and pray for another opportunity to present the Bible to the people of Dublin in an exhibition as part of the country-wide “Culture Night” on Friday 21st September (www.culturenight.ie/event/immanuel-church-dublin/).  Pray for many visitors and conversations which encourage people to take and read God's living word.

25-30 September
Students in Dublin
--
Pray for students beginning courses in Dublin and those returning. Pray they would settle quickly into gospel driven churches and not hop from one to another! Pray they would establish strong and honest friendships with other Christians through church and Christian Unions to encourage them in the faith. Pray they would be emboldened to speak of Jesus with others. Pray ‘Freshers Week’ would introduce many to the gospel for the first time.  Pray for ICM staff who often speak at various meetings organised by Christian Unions.

1-7 October
Gospel witness across Dublin
--
Pray for continued faithful Gospel witness in churches across Dublin, and for God to raise up more, through ICM or other means.  Give thanks for the fellowship among ministers and churches the Dublin Gospel Partnership and pray for the annual Dublin Women's Convention on Saturday 6th October.  With the theme “Identity in Christ”, pray that many women from many different churches may be encouraged to look to Christ for their worth and meaning, rather than the competing values and idols of the world.  Pray that churches in Dublin might be a light among a large, secular city.

8-14 October
--
In ICM we are continuing to explore ways to reach more people with the good news of Jesus Christ.  Pray for David Martin and the staff of ICM as they seek to start new ministries in the next year.  Specifically pray for opportunities to begin a lunch time meeting, for evangelistic bible studies in the city and the suburbs and for new evangelists/church planters interested in joining ICM.  Pray in all these things we would not get discouraged as we have this ministry in the light of God’s mercy.

15-22 October
City Church
--
Please pray for City Church as it grows and seeks to reach Dublin with the Gospel.  Pray for God's provision in their ongoing search for a longer term premises to meet in.  City has three community groups throughout Dublin and this week a new Christianity Explored group will meet for the first week. Pray for Jacob and Mark as they lead that group and that people would be moved to consider the claims of the Lord Jesus and put their trust in Him.

23-31 October
International students / Bible studies
--
Give thanks for the witness of the Dublin International Outreach in August, and pray for good ongoing contact through English Corner International Café and Immanuel church with people who came along.  Pray that despite language limitations, many international students may hear, understand and embrace the good news of the Lord Jesus during their time in Ireland.

Pray also for the many 1-1 Bible study pairings, ongoing with ICM staff and others in the churches.  Pray that discipleship through applying God's word to daily life may result in many growing in maturity in Christ, and in gospel-driven life change.

1-7 November
Iranian ministry
--
Please pray for the many Bible studies happening among Iranians in Dublin and Belfast – for one-to-one and group Bible studies, that all believers may grow in their faith and understanding of God's word.  Pray for those who are still searching, including some who tune into “Skype Church” from many parts of the world.  Pray for Davood, Jenny and Lydia, for wisdom, health and energy as they minister to many Iranians.  Pray for God's guidance for the ministry's future and His provision of finances.

8-14 November
Immanuel Church
--
Pray for Immanuel church as they journey through the book of Hebrews. Ask the Lord to help the church family to pay much closer attention to the things they have heard so that none will drift away. Pray that the good news of Jesus will prove an anchor for the soul of those in Immanuel. Pray for Mike, Megan and their son Samuel who recently left Immanuel to return to America and give thanks for their fellowship over the past three years.

15-23 November
--
ICM is indebted to the prayerful and financial support of many churches and individuals.  Praise God for supplying for the needs of the ministry in this way over many many years.  Ask God to continue to provide for the practical needs of ICM, and specifically pray that God will raise up new additional prayerful and financial supporters who will be generous with their time and money, rejoicing in the great truth that it is indeed ‘more blessed to give than to receive’.  In turn pray that ICM will generously direct and manage the resources we have for future gospel growth.

24-30 November
City church women's retreat, Bible studies
--
Please pray for the various group Bible studies happening at both City Church and Immanuel, that those attending would come to know and love Christ more as they spend time studying God’s Word in fellowship with one another.

Please also pray for City Church’s first women’s retreat on 30th November, that it would be a time not only to learn more about God, but also a time of rest and relaxation in community with one another. Thank God for the opportunity to spend time together as women, and pray that those who attend would be encouraged to live out their identity as women made in God’s image.
