ICM Trustees

Pray for the Trustees of ICM as they meet for their quarterly meeting on 6th December in Dublin.  Praise God for the singleness of mind and unity in purpose that the trustees enjoy as they oversee the work of ICM.  Pray that they may grow in humility and dependence upon God for all the needs of the mission.  Ask God to give them great boldness and the strength to take appropriate risks in order to see the gospel advance.  Above all pray for their own personal faithfulness in following Jesus, to their families and ministries, and as they conduct the affairs of ICM. May all they do, personally, publicly and for the cause of ICM bring glory to Jesus.

Christmas Events

Pray for the Carol services in City on 9th and 16th December and Immanuel on 16th  December. Please pray that those invited may come and consider Jesus afresh.  Pray for Immanuel's Christmas meal on 24th December, that it may be a significant time to support and welcome those who are alone or not travelling home at Christmas, and to share the true meaning of Christmas with them.

18-24 December

City Church

Praise God for the growth at city church and that they have been able to extend their lease in their current building. This gives them more stability although the building is almost full most Sundays. Praise God for a young Irish man called Jimmy who gave his life to the Lord and is seeking to follow him. Pray that he would be firmly established in the faith and grow to spiritual maturity.   Give thanks for the safe arrival of baby Owen in September to Mark and Philippa and pray for them and his big sister Isla as they rest over the Christmas period and prepare for the next semester in January.

25-31 December

Christmas and New Year

Pray for ICM staff as many take holidays over the Christmas and New Year period.  Pray for refreshment and a blessed time with friends and family.  Pray for those to whom they minister who cannot be with friends or family this Christmas, due to financial, legal or time constraints.  Pray that we all might rejoice in the birth of Immanuel, God with us, irrespective of our physical circumstances.

ICM Vision for 2019

As we begin this new year praise God for his abundant and great love towards us in His Son, and for a gospel to share with a needy world.  In ICM we would love to be able to share this message with more and more people in the greater Dublin area over this next year. To that end, please pray for the three new pioneer ministries we hope to start in 2019.  Praise God for the leaders of these new churches and their families. Pray that God will supply the finances, homes and depth of trust in Him that starting these new works will require. Pray also for the people whom these new churches might reach and ask God to glorify himself by giving eternal life to many who do not yet know Jesus.

David speaking this month in Ballinderry parish, Connor Diocese

8-14 January

Irish Preachers' Conference

Over 100 men and women, including ICM staff, meet in Bray, Co. Wicklow, for the annual preachers' conference from 7-9th January.  Pray for John Samuel as he leads us through 2 Timothy. Ask the Lord to use this time to fan into flame the gifting of many and to encourage us all to guard the good deposit of the gospel with the help of the Holy Spirit.  Pray especially that those who come from small and discouraging settings may be emboldened and refreshed anew in the gospel.

15-23 January

Theology Ireland (www.theologyireland.com)

Run by Gafcon Ireland, Theology Ireland is a three-week theology education programme from 14th - 30th January to help everybody with their understanding of the Bible. Please pray for Dr Peter Orr from Moore College in Australia who will give lectures on biblical theology and the gospels in Belfast and Carrick-on-Shannon.  Please particularly pray for the live-streaming of the lectures to a group gathered in the ICM building in Dublin. Pray for good attendance and that everyone will have a greater awe and joy in learning great truths from God's Word.  Pray also that the technology will run smoothly.

23-31 January

Iranian ministry

Pray for Davood as he ministers to Iranians in both Dublin and Belfast, and for new plans to train up Iranian leaders in Belfast.  Pray for the Monday evening Skype meeting (which is at full capacity with 25 computers logging in), that many who are separated by distance may be united in their joy at learning weekly from God's word together.  Pray that the Iranian believers may be an encouragement to one another, and reach out to others with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Kieron is speaking at University College Dublin Christian Union's mission week lunch bar on Monday 28th January, “Explore my True Identity” and Thursday evening, 31st January, “Explore unimaginable love – the Cross”

ICM administration

Please thank God and continue to pray for the ICM administrative staff - for Olive Stewart in Dublin and Sally Shaw and Colin Logue in Belfast. Pray for efficiency and wisdom as they handle financial, database and building-related tasks.  Pray that our building may be used for God's glory in Dublin city centre.  Pray also for sufficient finances to fund the work of ICM, both now and in the future.

7-13 February

Immanuel Church

In this month's Sunday sermons and Bible study groups, we come to the closing chapters of Hebrews “An Anchor for the soul”. Pray the book will leave a lasting impression on us all and swell our hearts to persevere in the faith. Ask the Lord to equip us with everything good for doing his will and to work in us what is pleasing to him through Jesus. Pray for gospel driven change among us that we might see lives transformed by the power of the spirit.

14-21 February

International Student Ministry

Pray for the English corner team led by Angel, as each Friday they host an English conversation time.  Pray for good student numbers and for many to want to stay on for the optional Bible study.  Pray that students will return each week, allowing good relationships to be built, and for them to accept the invitation to attend church on Sundays.  Pray also for Angel and Alessandra (member of Immanuel) as they lead a weekly Bible study for Brazilian students.  Pray that the Holy Spirit would break both language and spiritual barriers, that many will grow in knowledge of Him and apply what they learn to their daily lives.

22-28 February

Perseverance in ministry

Praise God for his relentless compassion and care for his people.  His mercies are new every morning! Pray that all who work in ICM would share such perseverance and press on seeking to reach and win the lost.  As we do this ask specifically that (as a staff) we would be of great encouragement to one another in this work, especially as we face the inevitable disappointments and set backs that pioneering new work and breaking new ground brings.  Ask God to continually renew us to serve one another and support one another in all our ministries. Pray also for the families of all those who work in ICM, that they may know God’s provision and safe keeping. Ask God to glorify his name among us and that through us and by our small efforts many might be brought from death to life in Christ.

David speaking at the Evangelical Fellowship of Irish Clergy (EFIC) Meeting, 25th February in Knockbreda Parish, Belfast.
